He was 78, and she was 68. Authorities are currently investigating the incident as "an apparent homicide." Rob and Michele's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested in connection with their deaths and is currently in custody. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time." Of course, Rob was a director, actor, writer, and producer. He began his career as an actor, most notably starring as Michael "Meathead" Stivic in Norman Lear's All in the Family. Then, from 1984 to 1992, he went on what some have called a legendary run of directing some of the most influential films in cinema history, including This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally..., Misery, and A Few Good Men. Shortly after news broke, famous friends began reacting to news of Rob and Michele's deaths on social media. Directed by Rob and written by the late Nora Ephron, this 1989 film is considered the greatest rom-com of all time by a lot of people. When it came time to discuss When Harry Met Sally..., Rob revealed the ending change. CNN Rob began, "The original ending of the film that we had was that Harry and Sally didn't get together because I had been married [to Penny Marshall] for 10 years. I had been single for 10 years, and I couldn't figure out how I was ever going to be with anybody, and that gave birth to When Harry Met Sally..."
