Mike Marsland / Getty Images If you didn't know, West End Girl is widely speculated to be about Lily's estranged husband, David Harbour, whom she publicly split from back in February. Michael Simon / Getty Images The song "Madeline" hears Lily seemingly confronting a woman whom her ex-partner has cheated on her with. "I know none of this is your fault, messaging you feels kind of assaultive / Saw your text, that's how I found out, tell me the truth and his motives / I can't trust anything that comes out of his mouth," she sings. Genius / Via genius.com "How long has it been going on? Is it just sex or is there emotion? / He told me it would stay in hotel rooms, never be out in the open," she says.

Lily also alludes to a past open relationship, singing, "We had an arrangement / Be discreet and don't be blatant / There had to be payment / It had to be with strangers / But you're not a stranger, Madeline." And while performing the song on SNL this weekend, Lily stared directly into the camera at several points as she sang the loaded lyrics. Arnold Jerocki / Getty Images Dakota could be heard speaking to Lily from behind a translucent curtain before walking out on stage at the end and echoing the song's outro, "You can reach out to me any time, by the way, if you need any more details or you just need to vent or anything. Love and light, Madeline." Saturday Night Live / NBC / Via youtu.be Reacting to the performance, several viewers immediately commented on the way Lily stared into the camera as she sang her "scathing" lyrics. "the stares into the camera when she's delivering the most scathing lyrics is woahhh," one YouTube comment read. "Love her staring right at the camera, she is singing to him," someone echoed. Saturday Night Live / NBC / Via youtu.be "Every time she looks at the camera you know she is looking straight into his eyes," another person agreed, while someone else said, "oof the direct eye contact with the camera...lily is singing this DIRECTLY to david and madeline." Saturday Night Live / NBC / Via youtu.be One more comment read, "And that's how you turn pain into art."
