Peter Greene - best known for his roles in Pulp Fiction and The Mask - has died at the age of 60. His manager Gregg Edwards confirmed the tragic news to People on Saturday. He said that the actor was found dead in his Lower East Side apartment in New York City on Friday. He told The New York Post that Peter was scheduled to go under the knife to remove a benign tumor near his lung on the same day his body was discovered. Two days before, the pair chatted over the phone to comfort each other since Edwards also had an upcoming hernia surgery. That was the last time they spoke. It was just a totally normal conversation. He was a little nervous about the operation going in, but he said it wasn't super serious. He was talking about that and hoping that I was going to be okay and wishing me well as I was wishing him well. We're good friends. I love the guy ... We were friends for over a decade." Edwards admitted Peter struggled with "demons," but he seemed happy and healthy in the days before his death. A short time after the two ended their call, Christmas music started blasting from his place. Edwards told NBC News that when the music didn't stop for over 24 hours, someone called for a wellness check at Peter's home. And what law enforcement found is a tragedy. A locksmith reportedly arrived at around 3:25 p.m. on Friday to discover the Life on Mars star unresponsive. He was declared dead at the scene. How awful... A neighbor described the gruesome scene police found to the New York Daily News. They claimed that "Peter was lying on the floor, face down, facial injury, blood everywhere..." OMG. There was also reportedly an odd handwritten note along with his body. It read: "I'm still a Westie." That is a reference to the 1970s Irish-American gang that operated out of Hell's Kitchen. Hmm. Strange. Despite the horrifying scene, police told The Post that no foul play was suspected and a cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner. Hopefully, the mystery of what happened to him will be solved soon. Rest in peace, Peter.
