Former Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh addressed his successor Sherrone Moore's dismissal and arrest for the first time. "I'm still processing that," Harbaugh, 61, said Friday, December 12 during media availability. "Still processing that like a lot of people I'm sure." Now head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, Harbaugh coached the Wolverines from 2015 to 2023, leading Michigan to the 2023 National Championship before a sign-stealing scandal tarnished his legacy at the school. Moore, 39, was fired on Wednesday, December 10, when a university investigation found he had engaged in an "inappropriate relationship" with another staff member. "U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately," athletic director Warde Manuel announced Wednesday in a statement. "Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior." At Moore's arraignment, a prosecutor laid out the alleged timeline that led to the coach's abrupt firing and subsequent arrest. It was previously reported that Moore and the staff member were subject to a university investigation over the summer, but that both denied having a personal relationship.
