The alleged "inappropriate" relationship between former Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore and a woman on his football staff came more into view during his arraignment hearing on Friday, December 12. The unnamed woman at the center of the scandal broke off their relationship - which had been going on "for years" - on Monday, December 8, Kati Rezmierski, first assistant prosecutor for Washtenaw County, said in the courtroom. Moore, 39, joined the proceedings via Zoom from a holding area at the Washtenaw County Jail, where he has been in custody since the evening of Wednesday, December 10. After the woman cut off their relationship, Moore allegedly sent her "numerous texts from that time moving forward that she did not answer, did not respond to, did not want." Shortly after being fired, Rezmierski alleges Moore "barged his way into" the woman's apartment and "grabbed several butter knives and a pair of kitchen scissors." Moore then allegedly began to "threaten his own life" in front of the woman. After she indicated that she planned on calling the police, Moore allegedly left the residence. He was arrested shortly after by the Pittsfield Township Police Department after fleeing to a nearby church. Rezmierski argued Moore was "a risk to public safety, a risk to this victim." Moore was charged with one count of third-degree felony home invasion, one count misdemeanor stalking related to a domestic relationship and one count misdemeanor breaking and entering. If convicted, the charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 6 years, 90 days. The judge on Friday ordered Moore to be released on $25,000, indicating that the former head coach would be forced to wear an ankle monitor and continue mental health treatment. University of Michigan President Domenico Grasso sent a letter to the school's community on Thursday, addressing Moore's termination.
