The next door neighbor of the University of Michigan football staff member at the center of the Sherrone Moore scandal recalled ominous sounds the afternoon of Moore's alleged attack. "I heard probably like a thud," Justin Giardini told WXYZ Channel 7 on Thursday, December 11. "Not a door closing or slamming. It was like something hitting the wall or something really heavy dropping." In the moment, Giardini admitted he didn't think much of the noise. "I just wasn't thinking it was anything serious like that," he said. "I just thought someone dropped something, to be honest." Sherrone Moore Thought People Were 'Out to Get Him' Before His Shocking Arrest Once he became aware of what allegedly happened in the apartment with which he shares a wall, however, the severity of the situation set in. "Now thinking about what it was, who it was, what happened, it's just kind of crazy to think that was happening right next door to me and I didn't even know," Giardini said. Moore, 39, was taken into custody on Wednesday, December 10 after allegedly "attacking" a woman at an apartment in Pittsfield Township, Michigan, right outside Ann Arbor, the home of the University of Michigan. In 911 audio obtained by TMZ Sports on Thursday, the woman alleged Moore had been stalking her "for months." Moore was booked into the Washtenaw County Jail on Wednesday evening, where he remains awaiting his arraignment on Friday, December 12. No charges have officially been filed against Moore. "Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details," the Pittsfield Township Police Department said in a statement on Wednesday. "Further details regarding the incident will be released as soon as possible." Moore's arrest came shortly after he was arrested following an investigation by the University of Michigan that found "credible evidence" of an "inappropriate relationship" with a football staff member. "U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately," athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement on Wednesday. "Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior." According to University of Michigan insider John U. Bacon, the move to fire Moore was kicked into high gear when the staff member presented "receipts" of her relationship with Moore on Wednesday morning. Moore had just completed his second season as head coach at the University of Michigan. Interim head coach Biff Poggi will take over duties for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl against Texas on New Year's Eve. Moore has been married to his wife, Kelli, since 2015 and the couple share three daughters, including their youngest, Sadie, who was born earlier this year.
