Posted 11 hours agoTimothée Chalamet Cryptically Responded To The Viral Theory That He's Living A Double Life As A UK Rapper - And Yes, This Is A Very Real ThingWe need a body language expert on this, stat.by Ellen DurneyBuzzFeed StaffFacebookPinterestLink If your TikTok algorithm is anything like mine, you're probably familiar with the theory that Timothée Chalamet - one of the busiest people in Hollywood - is living a double life as a UK rapper. Darren Walsh / Getty Images To get everyone up to speed, there's this English rap artist called EsDeeKid. He has 665,000 followers on Instagram and 11.5 million monthly streams on Spotify, but his real identity is a mystery to the public. He performs with his face covered, except for his dark eyes and full brows, which fans have noticed resemble those of Timothée - which is where the theory begins. (For clarity, if the Dune look wasn't enough of a giveaway, that's Timothée on the left.) @tchalamet / Via Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/tchalamet/?hl=en, @esdeekid / Via Instagram: @esdeekid Online sleuths have also pointed out that Timothée - who, we should note, is a keen rap/hip-hop fan and famously had a rap alter-ego in high school called Lil Timmy Tim - owns the same skull-print Alexander McQueen scarf that EsDeeKid often wears. @producedwithpassion / Via tiktok.com They've never been seen together, they're roughly the same height, and they also appear to share a love for Chrome Hearts clothing, as seen here. Perhaps the most compelling piece of evidence (if we can call it that) is that Timothée was spotted at a Fakemink show in London in August this year. Fakemink is another UK rap artist who, notably, is one of EsDeeKid's collaborators. @dazed / Via tiktok.com As a certified Timothée stan and a British person who enjoys UK rap, I must say that his appearance at the Fakemink show certainly raised my eyebrows. But, there is one major flaw in the theory, and that's that EsDeeKid raps in a thick Liverpudlian accent, which is notoriously one of the hardest English accents to imitate, even for an Oscar-nominee like Timmy. @esdeekid / Via instagram.com, @tchalamet / Via instagram.com So, as unusual as it all may sound, this theory is pretty widespread. There are countless TikToks with millions of views dissecting their appearances, and, in the past month, the comparisons have even been reported by outlets like the BBC, Rolling Stone, and the Guardian - which brings us to today. Samir Hussein / Getty Images Timothée is currently in London promoting Marty Supreme, and, of course, while appearing on UK radio this morning, the hosts couldn't help but ask him to debunk the EsDeeKid theory once and for all. Neil Mockford / Getty Images "I've got no comment on that. I've got no comment," he said. Heart / Via youtu.be After spending a few seconds stalling the conversation on-air, he then came out with this: "All will be revealed in due time." Heart / Via youtu.be Soooooo, we'll have to see what the TikTok detectives make of that. Watch this space, I guess? You can analyze the full clip for yourself here.
