Andy Cohen has a message for fans unhappy with the Vanderpump Rules reboot. "[People tell me,] 'The ratings are so bad for Vanderpump Rules.' First of all, you don't know the ratings for Vanderpump Rules," Cohen, 57, said on the Wednesday, December 10, broadcast of his Andy Cohen Live radio show, referring to fan criticism of the new season. "We don't look at live ratings. I haven't looked at a live rating for anything on Bravo." He added, "You know what the live ratings are? Hashmarks. It's delayed, it's DVR and it's Peacock. This is [we] how measure [its success]. It's not about the live ratings anymore." The Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen host has served as an executive producer on many Bravo shows for years. The network's latest addition to the roster is a 12th season of VPR with a brand-new cast of SURvers, which premiered earlier this month. Andy Cohen Compares 'Vanderpump Rules' Revamp to 'RHONY' Reboot "I felt that Vanderpump Rules was at its high, being nominated for Emmys," Lisa Vanderpump exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of the December season premiere. "We had great ratings, but I felt like we told the story. I thought at some point that it became a little bit more complicated to film [because] people didn't want to film with each other. The dynamic was broken. It was shattered in so many ways." VPR follows the lives of Vanderpump's employees at her SUR bar in Los Angeles, California. The OG iteration, which premiered in 2013, starred Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor, Kristen Doute, Tom Schwartz, Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, Lala Kent, Katie Maloney and James Kennedy through the years. After an explosive season 11 and Sandoval's headline-making affair scandal that resulted in his breakup with Madix, Vanderpump, 65, wanted to go back to the drawing board for the next season. "I thought it was time to do something new. And I felt that we had many talks about it," Vanderpump told Us. "The restaurant business is to actually have access to a restaurant. It's a very unusual situation. Most people wouldn't do it or couldn't do it. I thought it was time to do something new." 'VPR' Cast Didn't Know the 'Extent' of Season 12 Recasting Plans The new season of VPR stars Marcus Johnson, Natalie Maguire, Shayne Davis, Kim Suarez, Venus Binkley, Jason Cohen, Chris Hahn, Angelica Jensen, Audrey Lingle and Demy Selem. "They were available emotionally to share the vulnerabilities. There's some very interesting personal stories here," Vanderpump told Us in December of the new cast's dynamics. "They're lovely, they're excited, they're hungry, they're working here. I don't really want to do a show that kind of branches off. It's about the restaurant business, and it's about their lives and how they work together, and I think that's a great nucleus to have. So they're there with each other, because they have to be, and that drives [the] story as well." In addition to VPR, Vanderpump stars on her eponymous Vanderpump Villa where she runs a luxury international hotel with an equally dramatic group of hospitality workers. Vanderpump Rules airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
