Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore allegedly got physically violent with a woman before his termination and arrest. Moore was accused of "attacking" a woman at the address of a Michigan football employee on Wednesday, December 10, according to 911 dispatch audio obtained by TMZ Sports on Thursday, December 11. The woman claimed Moore had been "stalking her for months." It is unclear from the audio if the football employee was the one being attacked. Dispatch received the phone call around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. What Did Sherrone Moore Do? Timeline of the Downfall of Ex Michigan Coach According to the Pittsfield Police Department, authorities arrived at the residence at 4:10 p.m., where an individual was taken into custody. The individual arrested was Moore, per The Detroit News. Moore was terminated as head coach at the University of Michigan in a statement released at 4:34 p.m. "U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately," athletic director Warde Manuel said. "Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior." Moore was booked into the Washtenaw County Jail at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, where he remains as of Thursday afternoon. He is expected to appear for an arraignment on Friday, December 12. The official charges against Moore remain unknown. The Pittsfield Police Department said on Wednesday that the alleged incident involving Moore "does not appear to be random in nature." Authorities said the investigation into Moore remains "ongoing." "Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details," Pittsfield PD said. "Further details regarding the incident will be released as soon as possible." According to journalist John U. Bacon, who has written several respected books about University of Michigan football, the school conducted an investigation over the summer in which both Moore and the staff member were interviewed. At the time, both parties denied "anything was happening between them, which didn't give UM much to go on." On Wednesday morning, however, Bacon said the staff member's story "flipped." ESPN insider Adam Schefter said on Wednesday, "There had been lots of whispers and speculations about various gossipy, salacious items with the school here dating back weeks," but confirmed that a recent investigation into Moore found "no evidence of wrongdoing." Sherrone Moore Thought People Were 'Out to Get Him' Before His Shocking Arrest "But, if the school is going to take a step on Wednesday that it did, and announce that it is firing Sherrone Moore for cause, and saying he had an inappropriate relationship with a staffer, then, clearly, something this week developed that the school felt like it had irrefutable evidence, and was left with no other choice," Schefter added. Moore had just completed his second season in Ann Arbor as head coach of the Wolverines. The university announced Biff Poggi, an assistant on staff, will take over as interim head coach as Michigan prepares to play the University of Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on New Year's Eve. Moore has been married to his wife, Kelli Moore, since 2015 and the couple share three daughters.
