Some questions have finally been answered in the heartbreaking case of Eliotte Heinz. Five months ago, the graduate student went for a night out in her local town of Lacrosse, Wisconsin as any other college student would. Except unlike many other college students, she unfortunately never returned home. In July, the La Crosse Police Department revealed the 22-year-old as missing after she failed to get in contact with her family following the summer night out. Three days later, her body was found near Brownsville, Minnesota - about 10 miles from where she was last seen. So tragic. According to WEAU-TV, additional footage shows the Viterbo University student walking towards the bank of the Mississippi River at around 3:30 a.m. 30 minutes later, she's seen leaving the water, but then turns around and heads back in. According to data collected by her smart watch, her final steps were taken around an hour later at 4:30 a.m., and her final heart rate was recorded at 7:30 a.m. When her body was found three days later, a toxicology test was conducted, which has now revealed she tested positive for alcohol, but negative for drugs. Her blood-alcohol level was 0.193 - twice the legal driving limit in Wisconsin, according to WEAU. Now, her autopsy, which was conducted by the La Crosse County Medical Examiner's Office, has listed her cause of death as drowning and her manner of death as accidental. So, so, SO sad. According to investigators, Eliotte had not expressed any known suicidal intentions. As of now, foul play has been ruled out. Police Chief Shawn Kudron said in July: "This was not the outcome we had hoped for throughout this search. Our thoughts are with Eliotte's family, friends and all those who knew Eliotte. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from so many within the La Crosse community, the State of Wisconsin and nationally to locate Eliotte." In a statement to WISN, Eliotte's family said at the time: "We don't know why we were so blessed to have her as a daughter or why we are unable to keep her. She is amazing and would have continued to amaze us. We are devastated that she is no longer with us. Our family will forever have a missing piece. Eliotte's walk home is finished. Unfortunately, our family's walk down this new hard path is just beginning," the family continued. "We love you, Eliotte." Rest in peace.
