More and more, the chaotic theater of Washington, DC is breaking through its polished veneer, and what happened during Kristi Noem's appearance before the House Committee on Homeland Security on Thursday was one of those moments! As Noem settled into her well-rehearsed introduction while testifying about President Donald Trump's immigration policies before the committee, a man dressed as a priest rose from the audience and began to shout: "Stop ICE raids! The power of Christ compels you! End deportations, the power of Christ compels you!" Whoa!!! Of course, the comments echoed the famous line from The Exorcist - but it was stripped of camp and instead carrying a heavy moral plea. But even as he was pulled away, his signs declaring "Stop ICE raids" and "Codepink" sent a clear message. And the disruption wasn't over. A second protester stood up next holding a blunt poster reading: "No ICE, no troops!" They shouted: "Get ICE off our streets! Stop terrorizing our communities!" Noem kept her composure, but the incident definitely cast a pall over the room.
