Andy Dick thinks everyone is overreacting after he suffered a drug overdose on the streets of Los Angeles. The comedian was seen in footage slumped over on a cement staircase outside a building on Tuesday. His friends helped revive him, and the LA Fire Department responded to the scene, noting the 59-year-old man they tended to was not taken to the hospital. On Wednesday, Andy opened up to TMZ about what happened, claiming he's "100 percent fine" after ditching his friends, sitting down with a stranger, and doing some "crack." He explained: "There was a guy that was my age, and I felt for him. He has kids, and he was depressed, and he was on the sidewalk, and I was like, 'I'll sit with you.' And then he whipped out, sorry, but, crack. And I was like, 'you know what? I might need a little bit of that.' I wanted to see what he was doing, and also, I don't mind doing a little crack every now and then. That was stupid of me. I just met this guy who was my age, and he had kids, and he was going through s**t, and he was smoking something on tin foil, and, like, I know what that is. I said, 'just give me some.'" Alongside two of his friends, who were on-scene for the scary incident as they're making a documentary about the performer (and have been for six years), Andy was asked if he's going to get "professional help." He hit back: "When you say professional, should I call Dr. Drew again?" Wow. He thinks this is a laughing matter... He went on: "Do I need help? Do we all need help? Do you need help?" When pressed if he thinks he's "in a good place right now," Andy gushed: "Love it! I'm surrounded by my two friends who - they won't, it'll be hard for me to escape them again, but I will escape." When the photographer asked if he has "any plans" to go to rehab, Andy declared: "F**k no!" He further insisted later: "No, I'm not going to be in rehab!" He also downplayed the overdose, arguing he "was taking a nap!" He seems to think his friends are all he needs to stay safe, but they're clearly overwhelmed by the sudden and unexpected responsibility of taking care of him! One said: "We love Andy, but we can't always look out for him. He has so many friends in this world, so we're just kinda asking for everyone that he knows to look out for him and check up on him cause, you know, he goes through hard times too, and we all love him. I'm gonna be a little more strict on him, though." The friend explained that he'll be checking who Andy is speaking to while out and about as best he can to avoid incidents like this again. As for rehab, the same person noted: "We've both brought him to rehab so many times, and I think we would love to see him in rehab." Oof... Andy has received support from some celebs, such as the Terminator 2 star Edward Furlong, who encouraged him to get sober. The Andy Dick Show star refused to discuss his family, but expressed a wish to just enjoy the holiday season and his upcoming 60th birthday on December 21... He explained he doesn't feel like he's received the amount of support he deserves in life in general. After his two buddies revealed they both cried amid the "scariest" situation they'd ever been in with Andy this week, he theorized that maybe he should use this to his advantage: "That's when I think I need to up it a notch and pretend like I'm dying even more [so people will reach out to me]. Is that how I get my holiday wishes? By pretending to die?" Jeez... Such a sad situation. We hope he gets the care he needs to get through this tough period.
