(C)Lions Gate/Courtesy Everett Collection Although no specific details have been confirmed about their appearances, it's very likely that Katniss and Peeta will show up in a flash-forward scene based on the epilogue of SOTR, which is written by Suzanne Collins. The heartbreaking novel tells the tragic backstory of Haymitch (played in the original movies by Woody Harrelson), who won the 50th Hunger Games but lost nearly everything else, including his girlfriend, Lenore Dove, and his family. Lionsgate / Via youtu.be In the upcoming movie, young Haymitch will be played by Joseph Zada, while Whitney Peak will play Lenore. But in spite of his heartbreaking losses, the book's epilogue reveals that Haymitch ends up somewhat enjoying a life with Katniss and Peeta years after the tragic events that take place throughout the original franchise - including the revolution in Mockingjay. "I didn't want to let them in, her and Peeta, but the walls of a person's heart are not impregnable, not if they have ever known love...I didn't want to have anything to do with their memorial book after the war. What use? What point? To relive all the loss," he says. (C)Lions Gate/Courtesy Everett Collection Haymitch notes that he wound up telling his story after recounting life with his best friend, Burdock Everdeen (aka Katniss's dad), and his brother Sid, as well as his bond with Maysilee Donner, one of his fellow District 12 tributes in the 50th Hunger Games. "Before I knew it, they all came tumbling out: family, tributes, friends, comrades in arms, everybody, even my love. I finally told our story," he says. But she was smarter than me, or luckier. She's the one who finally kept that sun from rising. Peeta fashioned some kind of incubator, and when the eggs hatched, mine was the first face those goslings saw. Sometimes they just graze on the green, but on fine days, we've been known to wander on over to the Meadow. Lenore Dove likes it best there, and I'm content where she's content.
