This year, there were so many viral moments, wild celeb stories, and internet obsessions that even the biggest stories started to blur together. A lot of things that dominated our feeds back in February already feel like they happened in 2023. And some ridiculous pop-culture moments that were everywhere at the time have already slipped out of our brains completely. So here's a roundup of the things you probably forgot happened this year, or maybe you just can't believe they all happened in the same one: 1. Beyoncé made history in 2025 when Cowboy Carter won the Grammy for Best Country Album, marking the first time a Black woman had ever taken home that award. Cameras caught her looking stunned for a moment before smiling, and that reaction quickly went viral. Her win came after months of debate about country-music gatekeeping and who gets to define the genre. Later in the night, she also finally won Album of the Year, becoming the first Black woman to earn that title in more than two decades. CBS/Recording Academy / Via youtube.com 2. Doechii ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the 2025 Grammys, thanks to an electric performance that had the entire room on its feet - performing a mash-up of her songs "Catfish" and "Denial Is a River." Drake filed a lawsuit in January 2025 against Universal Music Group, accusing his own record label of defamation over the release and promotion of Kendrick Lamar's diss track, "Not Like Us." Lamar has a direct licensing deal with Interscope Records, which is part of UMG. On Oct. 9, a federal judge dismissed the suit, ruling that the lyrics in "Not Like Us" were "non‑actionable opinion," and not verifiable facts, meaning they do not meet the legal standard for defamation.
