Posted 4 minutes agoSabrina Carpenter Has Sworn By The Same Two Lip Products For Years, And They're Actually Really Flattering On EveryoneMy wallet regrets to inform you that her favorite lip combo looks good on pretty much everyone who tries it.by Melissa JamesonBuzzFeed StaffFacebookPinterestLink We're all chasing the perfect everyday lip, right? That dependable yet flattering "my-lips-but-better" shade that adds just a bit of polish and color without feeling or looking too try-hard. It's a simple ask, but it can be weirdly elusive. So when Sabrina Carpenter revealed her go-to everyday lip, our ears perked up. If anyone has had a ~year~ (and perfected a signature look along the way), it's her. Across interviews and beauty-bag videos, Sabrina has been pretty consistent about her favorite lip products for several years now, and it's actually a two-step combo. Michael Buckner / Getty Images Step one is lining her lips with Make Up For Ever's Artist Color Pencil in "Wherever Walnut", which she's called on multiple occasions "the lip liner that I really, really love." youtube.com Speaking to Who What Wear about Wherever Walnut, Sabrina said: "Those who know know. And I'm a lip liner girl until the day I die. I will pretty much always have my lips lined." Step two is topping off the liner with Hourglass Phantom Glossy Balm in "Desire", which Sabrina has described as giving off a "beautiful, sheer, glossy finish" that looks really natural. tiktok.com With this in mind, we knew we wanted to try them! So we purchased both products and recently put them to the test in the BuzzFeed offices in Los Angeles, curious how they'd translate across different undertones and makeup preferences. Here's our collective review. First, here's us, pre-lip combo (hi! 👋): BuzzFeed **A quick review note, too: most of our test photos show the full combo together (liner + balm) since that's how we wore them over the course of the day. First up: the lip liner. If you've ever struggled with lip liners feeling dry, draggy, or intimidating to use, reviewers agreed: this one is the opposite of that. Wherever Walnut is soft and blendable off the bat. (It makes sense that it's often sold out, and why it was already viral on TikTok prior to Sabrina calling it out.) All of us loved how creamy and smoothly it applied. Even reviewers who don't often use liner found the product surprisingly natural-looking and easy to use. Melissa noted that she wouldn't mind wearing it all by itself (maybe topped with some clear balm), versus as a liner for another product. BuzzFeed • Alana: "I loved the lip liner! It felt so smooth and hydrating. I feel like some of my lip liners feel really dry and difficult to apply, so I love that this one went on like butter. The color was great, and after trying it, it's on my list to purchase for myself."• Shelby: "Full disclosure: I had already used this lip pencil before because I actually bought it myself two years ago. (But I forgot because I didn't like the lipstick I'd bought to pair with it!) I liked the Hourglass balm SO much better with it." However, color-wise, some of us with lip tones close to this shade said that the effect was subtle. (Almost TOO subtle for Bella and Siena, who both said it was a very similar color to their lips.) BuzzFeed • The Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in "Wherever Walnut" is available on Amazon for $23.24, or at Sephora for $25. Once the liner was on, it was on to the second product: Hourglass Phantom Glossy Balm in "Desire." The balm had a lot to live up to, which is maybe to be expected with a $38 price tag. 😅 It markets itself as a 3-in-1 that "hydrates, plumps, and delivers shine." It's also supposed to glide on smoothly, and provide a cooling sensation upon application. BuzzFeed Just about everyone agreed the texture and application was ideal. True to its claims, it went on smoothly, looked lush and glowy off the bat (without looking distractingly shiny OR feeling sticky), and felt genuinely hydrating. BuzzFeed Though as Alana and Bella pointed out, the eventual wear time left something to be desired. "I wore the combo throughout my lunch," said Alana. "While it didn't completely disintegrate with each bite, I definitely needed a reapplication afterwards, which isn't too surprising given that it's a balm." Across the board, each tester also called out the cooling, minty sensation right away. It was refreshing but subtle, and a nice touch. Color-wise, "Desire" morphed across everyone. It leaned soft pink on some, a darker mauve on others, and a barely-there (but still glowy) true neutral on others. BuzzFeed • Megan: "I would wear the lip balm again in a heartbeat. It went with my skin tone nicely and felt very hydrating. My lips looked softer and plumper, and it went on SO smoothly! I loved the cooling sensation and the longevity of the wear. The balm also looks great with or without the liner." And color preferences aside, the formula itself got rave reviews. Multiple tester
