All one couple in Indiana wanted was to enjoy some late-night takeout, but what they got instead was the scare of a lifetime after a DoorDash driver allegedly pepper-sprayed the food! The horrifying incident was caught on a doorbell camera outside the Evansville home of Mark and Mandy Cardin after midnight on Sunday. According to a video posted to social media, a blue-haired woman dropped off an Arby's delivery to the house. In the video, you can see her snapping a confirmation picture of the delivered order before seemingly spraying something toward the order from an object she's holding in her hand. OMG. It then appears as though the driver placed the object back into her jacket pocket before walking away. What the f**k! Mark and Mandy had no idea that any of this happened until later! The unsuspecting couple brought the order inside and gobbled it up instead. But it didn't take them long to realize something was wrong with the food. Moments later, Mandy started choking. Mark told WFIE: "I noticed my wife had starting eating and she started choking and gasping, and after she had a couple bites of her food she actually threw up." The concerned hubby quickly began to investigate the cause and noticed the bag had been tampered with by a spray. He continued: "I had a look at the bag and seen that there was some kind of spray or something. The bag had been tampered with. So I pulled up my doorbell camera and seen that the lady who dropped the food off had actually tampered with it on purpose for some reason." Why would the driver spray the food?! That's what Mark wants to know! According to him, the pair had never met her before. They also left a tip before the incident, so he has no clue why she would tamper with the food. He went on to share the photos and videos of the driver on social media, begging for help in identifying her. He even tried to contact her, but discovered she already blocked him on the app. With no answers, Mark reported the woman to DoorDash and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office in the hopes of getting her fired and charged. He added to WFIE: "I definitely want to see her prosecuted." And believe it or not, this situation could've been a lot worse than it was. Mark explained: "It's horrific. We assume it's pepper spray, that's more than likely what it is, but now in this day and age it could've been anything. It could've been rat poison, it could've been fentanyl. I mean, my wife could've been dead. We live in a terrible world right now. Horrific. People are mean for no reason. There was no reason to do what she done." How scary! Mark is now encouraging everyone to be cautious with their future food orders: "I would say to anybody, if you order food on any kind of delivery service, make sure you have a doorbell. This is making me second guess ever ordering food from anywhere ever again." What a terrifying incident. We're glad Mandy is OK. At this time, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office is investigating the driver. WFIE reported she could be charged with consumer product tampering, a level 6 felony. If the spray resulted in harm, the charge may be increased to a level 5 felony. The woman hasn't been officially charged with a crime yet. She has been banned from DoorDash, though. A spokesperson told The Post: "We have zero tolerance for this type of appalling behavior. The Dasher in question has been permanently removed from the platform, and our team is standing by to support law enforcement with any investigation." Wow.
