Two-time Jeopardy! winner Philip Joseph "Joey" DeSena has been arrested in North Carolina on two counts of felony secret peeping, Us Weekly has learned. DeSena, 42, has been accused of installing cameras in his alleged victim's bedroom and bathroom, according to an arrest warrant filed by the Currituck County Sheriff's Office. In the warrant, dated November 26, it is stated that DeSena "unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously" secretly or surreptitiously installed "[a] device that can be used to create a photographic image, namely a camera." The devices were hidden in the victim's bathroom and bedroom "with the intent to capture the image of another without their consent." Additionally, it was revealed that the alleged incident took place on October 10. But DeSena was arrested nearly two months later, on Monday, December 1, according to the warrant. YouTube However, the North Carolina resident previously briefly entered the spotlight when he competed on Jeopardy! DeSena appeared on the beloved game show twice in November 2024 and he earned a whopping $44,698 following two wins. The Jeopardy! champ returned to the show for a third time in January for the Champions Wildcard Tournament, where he competed for a place in the Tournament of Champions. While DeSana managed to make it far in the competition, he eventually lost in the semi-finals to Drew Goins and Jen Feldman. As DeSena's Jeopardy! episodes were airing, he would regularly share behind-the-scenes information about his experience on the game show's subreddit. He explained in one post that he gave the answer "Lorelai" during one Final Jeopardy round as a nod to his daughter. He pleaded guilty to one count of use of a child in a sexual performance as a sexually motivated felony, as well as five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Associated Press. Nguyen previously appeared on two episodes of Jeopardy! in 2014, though he only won the match during his first appearance. However, Nguyen's recent arrest is not the first time he's found himself in trouble with the law. Three years after his Jeopardy! debut, Nguyen was arrested in 2017 for stealing $300,000 from a 96-year-old blind man and his 92-year-old wife.
