"Do you think Meghan will come to my funeral?" Thomas allegedly asked the reporter. He then wondered, referencing Meghan's husband, Prince Harry, "Will I get a better funeral because my son-in-law is fifth in line to the throne?" _ Thomas Markle and Meghan Markle haven't spoken since 2018, but the Netflix star's spokesperson claimed she called after her dad underwent life-threatening surgery to remove part of his leg. "I can confirm she has reached out to her father," the representative said in a statement to People. _ Although Meghan Markle's team insisted she'd made contact with Thomas Markle, her father initially said otherwise. "Of course, I want to speak to her, but I am not sure if these are the right circumstances," he told Caroline Graham in a separate interview for Mail on Sunday. "I've always said I am open to reconciling with my daughter. I have never stopped loving her. I don't want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my [two] grandkids. The mother of two officially cut off contact with the former lighting director after he lied to her about selling stories about her to the press. _ Meghan Markle recounted the fallout with Thomas Markle in an infamous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. "We called my dad and I asked him [if he sold stories to the press]. ... He said, 'No, absolutely not,'" the Suits actress recalled.
