So, below are 23 scripted TV shows that delivered incredible episodes and seasons in 2025. So much so, they're the best of the year: 1. The Pitt Warrick Page / HBO Max The Pitt brought new life to the medical show genre this year, and it became THE best show of the year, in my opinion. With R. Scott Gemmill at the helm and taking everything he learned from writing on ER, coupled with Noah Wyle's passion for medical professionals and bringing authenticity to what a medical show on TV can depict, The Pitt just hit a home run - or more like a grand slam. Not only is Wyle mesmerizing as Dr. "Robby" Robinavitch, in a now Emmy Award-winning performance, but the ensemble surrounding him is one of this show's superpowers. From newcomers, like Patrick Ball, to actors who have finally gotten their big break after years in the business, like Katherine LaNasa and Shawn Hatosy, The Pitt has so many well-written characters that it helps make this medical show feel so alive and real. Couple the outstanding performances with the show's format, each episode is one hour in a 15-hour shift in an ER, The Pitt became the show to watch in 2025. Powered By 2. Andor Lucasfilm / Disney+ If WandaVision is the best thing Marvel has done in the TV space, then Andor is that for Star Wars. Simply, HOLY SHIT. Andor came in with its second (and sadly final) season in 2025 and proved just how much can still be done in the Star Wars landscape after a few misses. Creator Tony Gilroy honestly achieved the impossible: a perfect and brilliant prequel series in the Star Wars canon. Gilroy set the bar high with Season 1, but somehow managed to surpass it, creating a season of television that will be talked about as one of the greats for years to come. With Diego Luna leading the way, the ensemble cast of Andor was one of the best teams on TV this year. They not only worked so well together, but individually, they delivered some of the best performances of the year. With only 24 episodes total, Andor gifted us with a perfect sci-fi series, a brilliant political thriller, AND an outstanding Star Wars show all in one. Powered By 3. Task Peter Kramer / HBO After Mare of Easttown, I knew I'd follow Brad Ingelsby to any other show he created. Enter Task, his follow-up to his Emmy Award-winning Mare of Easttown, that once again crushes it. Led by an outstanding Mark Ruffalo, Task follows a Philly-based FBI agent (Ruffalo) who is put in charge of a task force investigating robberies against stash houses run by motorcycle gangs. What makes Task so engaging is that you're not only following the FBI task force, but also Robbie Prendergrast (Tom Pelphrey), who robs the houses. Pelphrey as Robbie delivers one of my favorite TV performances of 2025, as he makes the character so beloved as you learn more about him and the things he'll do to protect his family. Like Mare of Easttown, this show knows how to throw in every curveball possible, which is what made it such an engaging weekly watch. I can't wait to see where Season 2 takes this show. Powered By 4. Severance Apple TV Going into its sophomore season, Severance was going to have to deliver after one of the best and biggest cliffhangers at the end of Season 1. With three years between seasons, fans patiently waited as expectations grew high. So, how did Severance Season 2 do? It nailed it. Not only did the show continue to deliver on the jaw-dropping moments and world-building that made Season 1 a must-watch, but the outstanding cinematography and utterly devastating and brilliant performances from every cast member elevated this show to an even higher level. Led by Adam Scott, in a performance that will be looked at as one of his career bests, Severance is just one of the best shows out there. Period. It reminds me of Succession in that you need to watch every episode ASAP, and be right in the middle of the discourse week to week. Alongside Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, Dichen Lachman, Patricia Arquette, and more are extraordinary in Season 2. In particular, Lower's ability to play both Helly R. and Helena is truly exceptional. Powered By 5. Paradise Brian Roedel / Disney / Hulu Sterling K. Brown starring in a political thriller by This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman? Honestly, say less. I knew from the jump that Paradise was going to have me hooked, but man, I was not even remotely prepared for how good this first season would be. Not only did it deliver one of the most memo
