Prince Harry is stirring up the royal pot once again, and this time it looks like the drama might work in his favor! After years of legal battles, bruised egos, and public comments about feeling unsafe on British soil, the Duke of Sussex has finally scored a win: the UK Home Office is officially reviewing the decision that stripped him of round-the-clock armed police protection. And yes, that means a return to the UK with Meghan Markle and the kids may no longer be the impossible fantasy Harry has been insisting it is. According to The Sun on Sunday night, the Home Office has ordered a fresh threat assessment for the first time in nearly six years. That's (potentially) a big deal. See, Harry has argued he faces high-level security risks dating back to his military service in Afghanistan. But when his protection rating slipped in February 2020, the automatic right to armed guards went with it. Related: Prince Harry Takes A Jab At Donald Trump! What followed was a messy stew of lawsuits and PR battles. The Duke even went so far as to say the decision left him "unsafe" and unable to envision bringing Meghan or the kids back to his homeland. But now, the country's Risk Management Board is reassessing everything by gathering intel from police, government, and Harry's own team. A ruling is expected next month. And if officials determine he does require armed protection, taxpayers will foot the bill whenever he's on UK soil. Ironically, insiders told The Sun this could actually be cheaper than the case-by-case reviews Harry currently has to request 30 days before touching down. This reversal is a major twist in a saga that has dragged on since Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020. Ever since, Harry's been sounding the alarm that bringing son Archie and daughter Lilibet across the pond would put them at unacceptable risk. King Charles hasn't seen the little ones since Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee in 2022, and royal-watchers have been wondering whether the rift would ever be bridged. Now, thanks to this U-turn, there may finally be a pathway for Grandpa Charles to reunite with the grandkids he's barely met. Over the weekend, the government offered a rare non-comment comment to The Sun on the situation as well, saying: "The UK government's protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals' security." Of course, a security green light doesn't automatically mean Meghan is booking her flight, or that the kids will be running around Balmoral Castle anytime soon. But for the first time in years, the road back to the UK looks a whole lot less blocked. And it seems Harry's persistence may finally be paying off.
