She spent her later years focused on animal welfare work. 4. She died in 2010 at the age of 92. 5. Ingrid Bergman at age 67 A. L. Whitey Schafer / Getty Images, Dave Hogan / Getty Images Ingrid Bergman was at her peak of fame when she was in her 20s - she was just 27 when Casablanca came out - but she worked pretty steadily up until her death at age 67 in 1982. 6. Charlie Chaplin at age 88 Witzel / Getty Images, Ullstein Bild Dtl. / Getty Images Charlie Chaplin was one of the first movie stars in history, rising to fame in the late 1910s and remaining popular for several decades. After a series of controversies and accusations of communism, he was effectively exiled from the US in 1952 and lived the rest of his life in Switzerland, where he died in 1977 at the age of 88. 7. Brigitte Bardot at age 73 Keystone-france / Getty Images, Eric Feferberg / Getty Images Now 91, Brigitte Bardot is best known for her "sex kitten" era in the 1950s in movies like And God Created Woman. She retired from acting in the '70s and focused on animal activism. 8. Gregory Peck at age 81 United Artists / Getty Images, Denny Keeler / Getty Images Gregory Peck was one of Hollywood's leading men in the '50s, and '60s, and he continued acting into the '90s. He died in 2003, aged 87. 9. James Stewart at age 85 George Rinhart / Getty Images, Ron Davis / Getty Images James Stewart had a prolific career well into his 50s and 60s, and was politically active as a Republican during Ronald Reagan's administration. He died aged 89 in 1997. 10. Rita Hayworth at age 62 Bettmann / Getty Images, Donaldson Collection / Getty Images Rita Hayworth was an "it girl" in Hollywood in the 1940s, and kept acting through to the early 1970s. She developed Alzheimer's disease and died at the age of 68 in 1987. 11.
