On Saturday, Propstore's Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction featured selected items from Dawson's Creek and Varsity Blues, two projects in which Van Der Beek starred. The assortment from Van Der Beek's personal collection of props and costumes earned over $47,000, with all proceeds being used to help finance the 48-year-old actor's fight following his diagnosis with stage 3 colorectal cancer in the summer of 2023. A collection of decorations from Dawson's bedroom, including an Indiana Jones model kit and E.T. doll, sold for $5,991, while a chairback was acquired for $2,663. Additionally, Dawson's white jumper costume went for $2,663, while a flannel shirt that the character wore throughout the series sold for $2,396. A pair of the character's cleats went for $2,663. Also included among the 1,350 lots featured in Propstore's London-based auction unrelated to Van Der Beek was Boba Fett's blaster from The Empire Strikes Back that sold for over $607,068. A fedora that Harrison Ford wore in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom sold for $482,328, a lightsaber that Ewan McGregor used in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace went for $382,536, and Will Ferrell's costume from Elf hit $316,008. Courtesy of Everett Collection "I've been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it's clear that the time is now," Van Der Beek said in a previously shared statement. "While I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items, it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore's auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years." In September, Van Der Beek canceled his planned attendance at a Dawson's Creek event due to illness. The live reading of the show's pilot script was organized as a benefit for nonprofit organization F Cancer.
