Watch: Kate Winslet Says the Ozempic Craze "Sounds Terrible"Kate Winslet doesn't see the collateral beauty in cosmetic procedures. The Titanic actor shared her honest thoughts on seeing the rise of plastic surgery and different weight-loss drugs in Hollywood. "Oh, it's terrifying. I think 'No, not you! Why?'" Kate, 50, told The Times of London in an interview published Dec. 6. "It is devastating. If a person's self-esteem is so bound up in how they look, it's frightening. And it's puzzling because I have moments when I think it's better, when I look at actresses at events dressed how they want, whichever shape - but then so many people are on weight-loss drugs. It's so varied." Indeed, many celebrities have been open about using GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic-which was originally marketed to treat Type 2 diabetes-to help them hit their health goals over the last year. And though The Reader alum understands that some people "are making choices to be themselves," she also believes this process is encouraging others to do the opposite.photosStars Who Have Sounded Off on Ozempic"Do they know what they are putting in?" she continued. "The disregard for one's health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever. It is f--king chaos out there." And with Kate-who shares 11-year-old son Bear with husband Edward Abel Smith, as well as kids Mia, 25, and Joe, 21, from previous marriages-standing firm in her stance, she revealed that she's learned to embrace aging. "My favorite thing is when your hands get old," she explained. "That's life, in your hands. Some of the most beautiful women I know are over 70 and what upsets me is that young women have no concept of what being beautiful actually is."Matt Baron/BEI/ShutterstockHowever, the Oscar winner didn't reach this level of her self-love journey overnight. Kate noted that after she found success in 1997's Titanic, she dealt with "relentless bullying" from the media over her appearance. "I wasn't ready to be a famous actress," she recalled. "I was so young, but I felt so invaded. Nothing was nice. People climbed into my garden. I couldn't go to a shop. I was followed when I had a baby in the back of the car on my way to the pediatrician. It is abnormal." This isn't the first time Kate has opened up about her experience with internalizing harmful beauty standards. In fact, she previously called out the industry's habit of using odd language when discussing different body types. "All I've ever done is be a woman with an opinion. Curves? Just call it a normal body that isn't honed and toned within an inch of its life," she told Vogue Australia last September. "Not wearing make-up on screen? That's not brave. I am an actor. I love my job. I'm bloody lucky to do it. I'm not on the frontline. But let's come up with some other words like 'relief' at seeing normal women feeling joyful on screen."
