ICYMI, the first four episodes of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things began streaming last week. Michael Buckner / Getty Images Given that Season 4 aired all the way back in 2022, the highly anticipated release of S5 was a pretty big deal. Which is why some fans were surprised this week to learn that one of the show's actors - Joseph Quinn - seemingly had no clue that Stranger Things had returned. Mike Marsland / Getty Images Joseph played the beloved Eddie Munson, who sadly died at the end of Season 4. In a now-viral interview clip with his Warfare costar Kit Connor, Joseph was asked if he had watched the first episode of Season 5. He replied, "Is it out?" Neilson Barnard / Getty Images Kit let out a laugh before telling Joseph, "You should know that." Neil Mockford / Getty Images "It's the 26th it comes out, no?" Joseph replied, to which Kit said, "It's been the 26th!" As mentioned, the clip quickly picked up steam online - and the people of the internet have a lot to say about it. Firstly, several users raised their eyebrows over Joseph's so-called "nonchalant" attitude. One viral post read, "i hate when actors act like this towards the show that put them on the map," while someone else echoed, "yeah..this nonchalant idc attitude actors have towards the show/thing that put them on the map will never be cute or funny to me." Karwai Tang / Getty Images "i hate when actors are nonchalant about the roles that made them famous," another user agreed.
While Stranger Things was by no means his first role, Joseph gained international recognition after starring as Eddie and went on to appear in several acclaimed projects, including The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Gladiator II. Some speculated that Joseph was purposefully trying to come across as "shady" because his character got killed off. However, others guessed that the actor was playing coy ahead of a potential Eddie return, with many fans theorizing he'll make a comeback before the series finale. (C)Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection "He tryna act nonchalant. He know Eddie Munson is alive or Atleast Eddie is gonna appear in the last episodes in some shape or form," someone guessed, while another person theorized, "hes in volume 2 hence the ignorance." I guess we'll have to wait and see! Vol. 1 of Stranger Things Season 5 is available to stream on Netflix. Vol. 2 will be released on Dec. 25, and the series finale will drop on Dec. 31.
