Stefanie Keenan / Getty Images Back in October, the California Governor voted against the bill, which would have made it much easier for people experiencing the effects of perimenopause and menopause to receive appropriate medical treatments. This marked the second consecutive year that the law was vetoed. Michael M. Santiago / Getty Images Halle, who publicly backed the bill, called out Gavin this week during a raw speech at The New York Times's Dealbook Summit. David Dee Delgado / Getty Images If you didn't know, Halle - who is 59 - owns a women's wellness business called Respin Health, which is focused on "redefining menopause and longevity." She has been super outspoken about women's health and uses her platform to educate people on the reality of perimenopause after revealing last year that her doctor mistakenly diagnosed her with herpes when she presented with perimenopause symptoms. BuzzFeed TrendingHot TopicLet's chat about all things PoliticsSee our Politics Discussions Halle told audience members at the summit, "Back in my great state of California, my very own governor, Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill, not one, but two years in a row. But that's OK, because he's not going to be governor forever, and the way he has overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us, he probably should not be our next president either. Just saying." Michael M. Santiago / Getty Images According to The Hollywood Reporter, Halle's candid comments "drew some gasps from the audience.""At this stage in my life, I have zero fucks left to give," she added. Halle continued, "In 2025, there is a lot to still be talked about and discovered and uncovered, especially if you are a woman who is navigating midlife and thoughtfully considering your longevity, because in 2025, I, Halle Berry, and women of my age are simply devalued in this country." Michael M. Santiago / Getty Images "Our culture thinks that at 59 years old, I am past my prime, and that women my age start to become invisible in Hollywood, in the workplace, on social media. Women are pressured to stay forever 35. We're complimented if we seem to be aging backwards or defying gravity, as if that's even possible, and if we somehow manage to look younger than our years, it's suggested that's the gold standard that our worth should be measured by," she said.
