The legal battle over who will control Richard Simmons' millions has turned ugly in court, Us Weekly can exclusively report. On November 21, Simmons' brother, Leonard Simmons, filed a petition to remove the late fitness guru's housekeeper, Teresa Reveles Muro, from her role as co-trustee of Richard's estate. Richard died on July 13, 2024, at the age of 76. His will appointed Leonard and Muro, who lived with Richard for 36 years in his L.A. home, as the two people to run his estate. After his death, Muro claimed Leonard and his team tricked her into signing documents that gave up her right to serve as an estate co-trustee. Leonard denied the accusations. The two went back and forth for months before a judge ruled Muro would continue on as co-trustee. In his new filing, Leonard said he cannot work with Muro. He suggested that a neutral third party be appointed as a trustee to "administer the Trust, determine the payment of fees and expenses, and manage the intellectual property that is owned by the Trust." Leonard said he will resign as co-trustee if Muro does the same. He said if Muro does not resign, he wants her removed by the court and stripped of any power over Richards' estate. Read Richard Simmons' Final Message to Fans, Written Ahead of His Death In his filing, Leonard claimed Muro has used her role as co-trustee to pursue a "vendetta" against him and others "whom she feels have wronged her." He claimed Muro is upset she was asked to leave Richards' mansion 75 days after his death "so that the home could be sold." "Teresa is upset that Richard named Leonard the beneficiary of his life insurance policy and did not include her," Leonard's lawyer alleged. "[Muro] is upset that Leonard asked her to return property that she removed from the house when she left so that it could be administered through the Trust. She is upset that the Trust terminated her services as Richard's house manager approximately seventy-five days after he died." Richard Simmons Chris DELMAS / AFP Leonard's motion continued, "The list goes on and on, and she is using the administration of the Trust to air her grievances and pursue her revenge while also attempting to distract from the fact that she improperly took and continues to possess Trust property." (For her part, Muro claimed in court docs that Richard would be "would roll over in his grave if he knew what his brother Leonard has done since his tragic death.") In his filing, Leonard claimed Richard's housekeeper has "launched false and malicious accusations against her perceived antagonists" in court documents. "She also refuses to talk on the phone with Leonard, instead insisting on communicating via emails, many of which appear to be ghostwritten by one of her sets of counsel," his lawyer alleged. "As a consequence of her ... behavior, the administration of the Trust is being substantially impaired." How Richard Simmons Boosted Derek Hough's Confidence on 'DWTS' Leonard said Richard's home has yet to be sold. (Richard's four-bedroom, five-bathroom, 4,119-square-foot home was listed in June for $6.9 million. The price was reduced to $6.5 million in August, down to $6.3 million in September and dropped again on November 29 to $5,889,999.) In his motion, Leonard claimed the home has not been sold because "among other things, Teresa refused for months to agree to contracts with vendors to remove the property from the house." He claimed the home was supposed to be listed in January, but did not hit the market until June. Leonard's attorney alleged, "Despite receiving offers, Teresa now refuses to agree to alter the price significantly in order to aid in negotiation, and she has yet to respond to Leonard's request to renew the listing agreement with the realtor." In addition, the motion accused Muros of refusing to "consent to the payment of a large percentage of the legal fees incurred by the trust because she opposes what Leonard is doing and says that Leonard should pay them himself." Leonard said Richard's housekeeper refuses to pay Richard's publicist and has bombarded him with questions about tributes to Richard that she believes he was involved with and kept her in the dark. He denied the claims. Leonard pleaded with the court to intervene immediately. Shannen Doherty's Estate Accuses Her Ex-Husband Kurt of Owing Money As part of the court battle, Leonard previously accused Muro of taking expensive jewelry, potentially worth $1 million, from Richard's home. Muro claimed Richard gifted her the pricey jewelry. She said he gave her the pieces on Thanksgiving in 2014. In a declaration, Muro told the court, "Richard came downstairs to the kitchen of the Residence with several pieces of jewelry and put them on the kitchen table." "Richard placed a pink diamond ring on my finger and told me he was giving it to me. I was shocked but accepted this generous gift," she alleged. "Later that day, at around dinner time, Richard told me that he was giving me all the rest of the Gifted Jewel
