It's happening!! Charlotte York and Trey MacDougal have been reunited!! On TikTok Monday, Kristin Davis teased a very requested and anticipated guest on her Are You A Charlotte? podcast - none other than her onscreen lover Kyle MacLachlan! In the short teaser clip, Kristin holds a bottle of wine and lip-syncs over one of Kyle's lines: "I'm Trey." The camera then pans over to Kyle, who lip syncs over Sarah Jessica Parker's narration! He mouths: "And that's how, in the most dramatic fashion, Charlotte met her new leading man." At one point, Kyle gushes about how his role as Trey came at just the right time for him - he was ready to get out of that phase of "oddball" characters: "At that point in my career, I was like, this is perfect because I've been playing Agent Dale Cooper [in Twin Peaks] and I've been playing somewhat eccentric, sort of oddball characters, not really romantic characters. He even admitted he was thankful his time as Trey got "extended" because he was enjoying working with Kristin so much: "I was so happy because I was really enjoying my time and working with you, and the writing was exceptional. It was funny." Aww! And, of course, don't think he got out of the pod without addressing THAT character arc. In another part, he recalled the first few meetings he had with showrunners Darren Star and Jenny Bicks. Particularly when they revealed Trey's sexual shortcomings: "I'm kind of excited, talking about, you know, 'I think he's a guy who spends time in Central Park, he's probably, there's maybe some surgery stuff.' They were like, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, fine,' and they said, 'But there are two things. One, he's got kind of an unusual relationship with his mother. She's domineering, so he's got a very close [relationship], and he's impotent.'" Ha! Way to just throw that in there! He continued: "I was like, 'He's impotent?'... You know, just when you think you're going to get out, they pull you back in. I was like, 'Oh, mother eff.'" LOLz! Ultimately, he says Trey's condition didn't sway him one way or another with taking the role, but he was glad he was able to "deal with [the condition] in a fairly educational and understanding way." Now, why didn't we see a Trey reprisal in And Just Like That? That would have been so epic!! Unfortunately, Kyle laments he wanted to be inspired by a nice idea or reason for Trey to return, something that would be juicy enough. But as we all know, AJLT abruptly came to an end with its third season. Boo. So, for now, fans will just have to enjoy special podcast reunions like this one.
