Donyelle Jones rose to fame on So You Think You Can Dance before her death following a cancer battle. News broke in December 2025 that Jones died at age 46, with her official Instagram account paying tribute to her in a message. "Today at 8:34am, Donyelle Denise Wilson, transitioned. A wife. A daughter. A sister. A friend. And a warrior who kicked cancer's ass every single day she was here. Her spirit never dimmed. Her heart never hardened. And even in the storm, she never lost her smile. GIWMA," the post read. Jones was mourned by her nearly 34,000 followers and loved ones, who took to the comments section to send their condolences. "All my love," So You Think You Can Dance alum Allison Holker wrote via Instagram, while Chrissy Metz added, "May your transition be full of love and light just as you were here on this earth. Donyelle Jones Danced for Janet Jackson In an October 2025 Instagram video filmed at the 2024 Gala of the Stars benefit in California, Jones recalled how she once danced for Janet Jackson. "All the dancers in the room, you know what it's like, after you haven't danced for a few weeks or a few months, imagine not dancing for a year ... on top of that, cancer treatment," she said during her speech at the event. "I had the great idea to audition for Janet Jackson. And I booked the job. This was three months post-chemo treatment."
