Lauren Graham is teaming up with Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino once again - but don't expect episodes of the TV show anytime soon. The duo announced their collaboration with Celadon Books on Wednesday, December 3, revealing that they had a new book in the works. While it's not set to be released until 2027, the upcoming book is an inside look at the world of Gilmore Girls from two of the most important women in the franchise. "I'm thrilled to collaborate with Amy to bring readers all our stories of the special years we spent filming Gilmore Girls, the first and second time!" Graham, 58, said in a statement on Wednesday. Sherman-Palladino, 59, shared her excitement about reuniting with Graham in a statement of her own. "I will jump at any chance to collaborate with Lauren Graham. On anything. Be it a boozy broads lunch at Joe Allen's, or writing an actual book, the answer will always be 'yes,'" she shared. "I find myself wanting to be permanently linked to her side forever. Not sure it's healthy, for either of us, but it's just the reality of the situation." 'Gilmore Girls' Cast: Where Are They Now? Graham and Sherman-Palladino's new book will take Gilmore Girls fans "behind the curtain" of the show "through a blend of sharp wit, personal reflection, and never-before-shared stories," according to the official description. The women are set to offer "an intimate, behind-the-scenes portrait of their creative partnership and the spark that defined Lorelai Gilmore and the world of Stars Hollow." Graham played Lorelai Gilmore on the show for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007. She returned for the four-episode Netflix revival in 2016. "Along the way, they revisit unforgettable moments from the set - capturing the humor, heart, and alchemy that has made the series an enduring classic," the book's description concludes. Celadon Books and Flatiron Books president and publisher Deb Futter also weighed in on the exciting news on Wednesday. "This is THE book Gilmore Girls fans have been waiting for ... and that is saying a lot," Futter said. "Lauren and Amy are television legends and their stories, which have not been shared before, are what tv lore is made of." The book's announcement comes months after it was announced that there was a Gilmore Girls documentary in the works, titled Searching For Stars Hollow, to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary. 'Gilmore Girls' Cast Reunions Through the Years: See Photos The Hollywood Reporter announced in August that cast members Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Jared Padalecki (Dean Forester), Keiko Agena (Lane Kim) and Chad Michael Murray (Tristin Dugray) were set to participate. Us Weekly celebrated the show's 25th anniversary with a cover story looking into the show's cult following and continued success. "This sort of medicinal, therapeutic side to the show is undeniable," Scott Patterson told Us in September. "I hear it all the time. I hear, 'This show saved me,' 'This show got me through cancer,' 'This show got me through Iraq.'" Patterson even told Us how the writing - courtesy of Sherman-Palladino - stood the test of time. "It's smart. It's very, very funny," he gushed. "It operates best as a light comedy, and then at the end of an episode, you get a right hook to the head. It's wonderfully unpredictable. It's 50 to 60 great jokes per episode. Nobody's doing it like that. Lorelai's basically going through life as a stand-up comic and a really good one."
