And when Lisa Kudrow's HBO comedy finally returns, Andrew Scott will be joining the cast. The third and final season will release March 2026, HBO Max CEO Casey Bloys announced at Wednesday's 2026 Content Showcase in London. A specific date will be announced at a later time. The Comeback is returning two decades after it first premiered and nearly 11 years after its second season. The critically beloved comedy is created by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King (And Just Like That), and returns Kudrow to the role of Valerie Cherish - see the first photo, below. Erin Simkin/HBO Kudrow stars in the series as the former hit sitcom star from the early 1990s who is trying to make her way back into the spotlight. The first season, which premiered June 2005, followed her when she was cast in a new comedy and filming a reality show. Season two saw Valerie cast in an HBO project about the sitcom writer who made her life hell in season one, earning her widespread acclaim while her personal life was falling apart. For season three, Kudrow and King have only shared that Valerie "has found her way back to the current television landscape. Neither of us are surprised she did," The Fleabag and Ripley star joins the previously announced cast of Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, Damian Young, Tim Bagley, Matt Cook, Jack O'Brien, Ella Stiller, John Early, Barry Shabaka Henley, Abbi Jacobson, Tony Macht, Brittany O'Grady, Zane Phillips and Julian Stern. No character details were shared around the role for Scott, who is repped by CAA, United Agents, Relevant, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. The Comeback is executive produced by King, Kudrow, John Melfi and Dan Bucatinsky.
