However, he has now confirmed that he will not be appearing in Season 5 as he bluntly claimed that he had been "fired" without so much as a phone call. Daniele Venturelli / Getty Images Production on the upcoming season of Emily in Paris kicked off back in May, and Rupert was left disappointed when he didn't hear from the showrunners. (C)Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection In a new interview with Vanity Fair Italia, the star explained: "I was fired. I did a scene in the latest season, and they told me: 'Next year we'll speak.'" Giulia Parmigiani / (C)Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection "I waited for them to call me, but ultimately, it never came, and they just fired me," Rupert went on. "Show business is always very difficult, from the beginning to the end." Mondadori Portfolio / Getty Images "When they write the screenplay, they think they want you, but then things change, and they lose your character. I don't know why," he continued, before admitting that he was deeply impacted by this decision. (C)Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection "For me, it was a tragedy. I was in bed for two weeks because I couldn't get over it," Rupert told the publication. Dave Benett / Getty Images While Netflix declined to comment on Rupert's claims, a source close to the production told Vanity Fair that Rupert had only ever been hired as a guest star, and his character's story had already reached its conclusion. Matt Winkelmeyer / Getty Images It's not currently known when Season 5 of Emily in Paris will hit our screens, but it sounds like Rupert definitely won't be watching.
