A spokesperson for the South West Peatland Partnership called the incident "an attack on those that live, work, enjoy and rely on these landscapes." The trees were located in the Forest of Dartmoor - land William inherited. The greenery was planted to prevent the erosion of the forest's peaty soils and reduce flood risk.
