Jenny McCarthy is on the mend after enduring a scary infection. "I've had nine surgeries this year on my mouth," the Masked Singer judge, 53, said in an interview with People published on Wednesday, November 26. "I had one infection that turned into another and another, and then I had these growths show up on my eyeballs." McCarthy explained that her condition started following a failed ceramic dental implant, which led to her losing some teeth. "My teeth were falling out, implants falling out," she recalled. "They finally had to dig into my jawbone and chipped away, and found I had a deep bone infection. I've been on antibiotics for a year, and have had to eat soft foods only." As of now, McCarthy is "able to chew again," but she is remaining cautious because the issue has persisted over the past year. "Every time we thought it had cleared up, it came back again, I'd be in massive pain with my jaw swelling up, and at the same time I was getting these growths popping up on my eyeballs," she said. "People should actually feel a little sorry for me!" McCarthy also released her and husband Donnie Wahlberg's annual holiday card while sharing her health update. In the photo, McCarthy donned a red bikini showing off her slender figure. The model confessed that the condition caused her to lose weight due to her inability to eat some foods, adding that she underwent even more surgeries after the pic was taken. "I had two more mouth surgeries even after that photo was taken," she shared. "I've been pretty unlucky." Earlier this year, McCarthy shared that she was struggling with Hashimoto's Disease, a chronic autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid gland, and leaky gut syndrome. To combat the illness, McCarthy attempted to adhere to a vegan diet, but struggled to make it work. "I tried vegan and I almost died," McCarthy said on a March episode of the "Heal Squad" podcast. "I became so ill. I was exhausted and fatigued. I was a mess." McCarthy explained that she was unable to follow the plant-based diet because she has celiac disease - an autoimmune condition that prevents her from being able to properly digest gluten, dairy issues and an allergy to soy. "It's what you believe and you have to follow your intuition and then also follow what your blood says or what your body says. Your body will let you know, by the way." McCarthy ended up going on a "full carnivore" diet after consulting her doctor. "And I'm like, ugh, OK. I'm from Chicago so I can handle it, but it just felt very low vibrational heavy for me. I was kind of a more eating salmon [type of person] and doing light things like this," she said. "But [I felt] I might as well give it a try; it was like my last resort diet. It has been f***ing incredible for me - and I stress for me."
