Nicki Minaj is one step closer to potentially having her $20 million home seized by a man who won a settlement from her after a L.A. judge appeared to side with him, Us Weekly can report. On Monday, November 24, a hearing was held in the lawsuit brought by Thomas Weidenmuller. (Weidenmuller was awarded a $500,000 default judgment against Minaj, 42, and her husband, Kenneth Petty, over an alleged assault by Petty, 47.) As Us first reported, Weidenmuller asked a court to sell off Minaj's mansion in Hidden Hills, California. He said the home was worth $20 million and had a $13 million mortgage. Weidenmuller argued that the proceeds of a potential sale could cover the money owed on the mortgage and his debt. Rolling Stone reported that at the hearing this week, Judge Cindy Pánuco appeared to be inclined to sign off on Minaj's home being sold off. She said, "My tentative [decision] is to grant this," when speaking about Weidenmuller's request. During the hearing, the judge explained why she needed the bank documents. She said, "Let's say there's no bidder who offers the full $20 million, and it goes up for auction, and they don't get fair market value, and it doesn't cover everything. If it doesn't cover what the sale is required to cover - including the judgment, in this instance - then I would use that evidence to help me to determine that." A hearing has been set for January 22, where Weidenmuller is expected to bring the documents in question. As Us first reported, Weidenmuller filed his request to have Minaj's 11-bedroom, 16-bathroom, 11,820 square foot home sold on October 6. (Minaj purchased the home for $19.5 million in December 2022.) In his filing, he explained the couple have not paid a dime on the $503,000 owed.) "Although it is regrettable that the extraordinary measure of forcing the sale of Minaj's dwelling is required, that result is entirely the product of her intransigence in not making payment," Weidenmuller' lawyer Paul Saso wrote. Man Who Killed Nicki Minaj's Father Hires Investigator to Track Her Down Saso added, "Minaj is a global music superstar, estimated to have a net worth of anywhere between $150-190 million, and is reportedly the highest paid female rap star in the world. There is little doubt that she is highly capable of paying the judgment in full and, yet, she has refused to do so despite multiple written requests for payment and levies served upon several of her suspected creditors." In his initial complaint, Weidenmuller said he was assaulted by Petty while working as a security guard at Minaj's show in Germany in 2019. Weidenmuller said during the show a fan was able to break the security barrier and get on stage. He said after the show he saw Minaj yelling at a female security guard about the incident. Weidenmuller claimed he tried to intervene and diffuse the situation but alleged things upset Minaj. He claimed he was summoned to Minaj's dressing room later in the night. Weidenmuller said Minaj, Petty and two of her security guards were present. Breaking Down Nicki Minaj's Feud With Jay-Z Weidenmuller said the rapper started berating him and then Petty "without warning," hit him in the face. He said he was rushed to the hospital and needed surgery for a broken jaw. Minaj and her husband did not respond to the claims in court. The judge signed off on the default judgment in early 2024. On October 15, Minaj spoke out about the lawsuit on X. She said, "I have evidence that this was given to a business [manager] who never told me. My lawyers AND business [managers] (old & new) are AWARE. Let's see if they'll speak up or if I'll have to call them out by name. That same business [manager] STOLE from me MANY times."
