Holy s**t! This Florida family is lucky to be alive after a celebratory fishing trip turned into a full-blown brush with death. The Woods-Harding family is fortunate enough to spend another Thanksgiving with four valued members after they nearly met a watery grave. On Monday at around 9:30 a.m. local time, Dennis Woods set out on a fishing adventure to celebrate his 70th birthday with three others: his 90-year-old uncle Clarence, and Cris Harding Sr., 42, and Cris Harding Jr., 18. The group of four set out to charter the ocean waters off the coast of Florida in a 25-foot catamaran... but terror quickly overtook the good vibes when a leak sprung and water started flooding in! Woods said of the nightmare: "It was probably less than five minutes before it rolled. And I didn't have time to contact the Coast Guard. We were more concerned about getting a life jacket on the 90-year-old and the 18-year-old. The one I was going to wear got hung up and I had to just leave it." When they didn't return home that evening, a family member reported them missing, according to the US Coast Guard. So a rescue helicopter was deployed... but initially to no avail. As daylight descended into darkness, the group of men thought their rescue had arrived when the chopper flew by, but unfortunately they could not get its attention. So there they stood, clinging to life in a boat actively capsized, and their white knight was gone as fast as it'd arrived. All night, the four men fought to stay aboard the sinking ship as waves grew more intense. Dennis faced an uphill battle trying to keep himself AND his elderly uncle secure. But the following morning, daylight broke and the tides changed. About 26 miles west of Clearwater, they were FINALLY spotted by rescuers! The official US Coast Guard Southeast account on X (Twitter) shared emotional footage and images of the foursome's rescue... in it, Dennis wraps his uncle in a tight embrace. They were clearly happy to be alive. And believe it or not, their catamaran was named, "Money Well Wasted." Dennis's sister Teresa has since told Fox 13 and Tampa Bay 28 the men didn't think they were going to survive... but miracles happen, and they were lucky enough to experience one. We're so glad they're all safe!!! [Images via 20th Century Fox/YouTube] The post THANKSGIVING MIRACLE!
