Sometimes, people create extreme outrage over the silliest celebrity scenarios. Here are 10 times celebs were called out for reallllllllly ridiculous reasons: Some of the offenses in the list are definitely sillier than others, but the intensity of the reactions was all ridiculous in my opinion. 1. Kim Kardashian was called out for saying women need to "get your fucking ass up and work" in a Variety interview. Her remark was met with extreme backlash, with people accusing the reality TV star of ignoring her privilege. Aeon / GC Images In an episode of The Kardashians, Kim said she was "blindsided" by the internet's negative reaction to her. "I said what I said about people working. Do I believe in that? Yes, I believe that you have to work hard in order to do that. But I was just so blindsided by how angry people got." Variety / Via youtu.be She acknowledged her privilege and that people were offended, but it wasn't her intention to single out any particular group. "Enough people were triggered, so I want to be responsible and understanding [of] why people feel the way they do, and I do understand that a lot of people weren't given the same opportunities as us," she said. "It wasn't a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don't respect the work or think that they don't work hard," she clarified. "I know that they do. It was taken out of context. But I'm really sorry if it was received that way." Good Morning America / Via youtu.be 2. Ariana Grande received backlash in 2015 when security footage revealed her licking donuts at a California shop, saying, "What the fuck is this? I hate America, I hate America. This is disgusting," during the Fourth of July. JC Olivera / WWD via Getty Images The internet's reaction was swift and critical, accusing her of being extremely unhygienic and disrespectful. Ariana released a public apology video, saying, "I am extremely proud to be an American...what I said was taken out of context and was never meant that way." "Food is very important to me... the U.S. is the number one consumer of meat, and I should have expressed myself better." Unique Nicole / Getty Images for Universal Pictures 3. When a clip from her days on the TV show Victorious went viral years later, Ariana's costar, Victoria Justice, was accused of shading the pop singer. Paul Archuleta / Getty Images Victoria was featured in a viral meme alongside Ariana, Liz Gillies, and Daniella Monet, clipped from their Popstar! interview. When Liz and Daniella praised Ariana's vocal habits, Victoria added, "I think we all sing." Fans quickly interpreted it as a shade toward the "We Can't Be Friends" singer, so much so that she claimed she received death threats. Popstar! / Via youtu.be In 2025, on Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, Victoria said, "There was a time for so long on the internet where I felt like people hated me. I got so much hate, dude. I got death threats." Mythical Kitchen Last Meals At the time, the experience was difficult as a mother, but now she looks back at it as a silly moment in time. "It's factual. We did all sing, OK? What do you want from me?!" she teased. "Now I think it's funny. I'm in on the joke. I even say it to myself all the time." Christopher Polk / Billboard via Getty Images 4. Doja Cat has continually been on the defensive against backlash for apparently attacking her own fanbase online. Frazer Harrison / Getty Images A touchy interaction with a TikToker in the summer of 2025 exemplified her complex relationship with her fandom. She shared a now-deleted post, reading "Bottom line is i'll smile at you but it doesn't mean I fuck w you and don't touch me and man handle me when you don't even fuckin know me. iykyk." @thisisntpablo / Via tiktok.com She followed up, saying of the fan who offered a T-shirt, "I honestly think I need to stand up for myself in the moment sometimes. and he didn't even know my fuckin name to be touching me and kissing me on my face like that is crazy. I threw that musty ass shirt away btw." Mike Coppola / Getty Images for MTV The TikToker and Doja had another interaction during her Outside Lands performance, and she gave him a shoutout, showing that any backlash from the moment was likely blown out of proportion and indicative of the silly banter with her fans online.
