Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas' recent decision to allow their sons to make their red carpet debut did not come lightly. "We had big talks about how to keep them from being overexposed, but also, how do we ... I wanna keep this within sort of, like, the bowling alley bumper," Goodwin, 47, explained during her Tuesday, November 25, appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's "Dinner's on Me" podcast. "Like, you know those gutter bumpers when you're at the bowling alley? Like, how do we put those up in this situation?" Goodwin said she and Dallas, 46, ultimately decided that their sons - Oliver, 10, and Hugo, 8 - would "walk on the red carpet" with them at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, Zootopia 2. "But we're not posting you on social media," Goodwin recalled telling her boys prior to their public moment. "[It's] intense because those premieres shut down Hollywood Boulevard," she explained. Goodwin added that Oliver and Hugo didn't seem to understand the size of the event when she first told them about it. "So they said, 'Remember when we went to the Knicks Game?' And I was like, 'Yeah.' And they were like, 'Remember when we left and there were all those photographers?' Jesse, there were, like, two photographers," she said. "They were like, 'Will it be like that?' And we were like, 'Oh dear, we need a dry run.'" Their practice seemed to pay off. Goodwin and Dallas stepped onto the red carpet at the November 13 premiere with both Hugo and Oliver in tow. The boys adorably twinned in dark navy blue suits and black-framed glasses, while their dad sported a beige suit. Joe Maher/Getty Images Goodwin, who voices Judy Hopps in both 2016's Zootopia and its sequel, dazzled in an off-the-shoulder cream gown with a floral design along the bodice. "We have never let our children go to Hollywood anything," Goodwin told E! News at the event. "We're very private, we 'heart' out their faces on social media. We've explained to them we're still not gonna be posting about them, and they're not allowed to Google themselves." She continued, "And then they say, but their friends are going too, and I'm like, 'That's fine. We're not their parents.'" However, she and Dallas eventually had a change of heart. "We were like, 'You're right,'" she recalled telling their sons after they seemingly requested to attend the event. "This is a family thing for us, Zootopia." This time, Dallas and Goodwin wore black and white ensembles, while their sons again donned navy suits. Goodwin and Dallas met in 2011 on the set of ABC's Once Upon a Time, where they played Snow White and Prince Charming, respectively. They began dating soon after, confirming their romance in 2012. "I mean, after the read-through or the pilot. Yeah, it was pretty soon," Dallas exclusively told Us Weekly in 2020 of his fairytale love story with Goodwin. "I think it happened very organically and actors playing opposite each other never fall in love off sets, do they? That never happens in this business. But, two kids later, we're still going strong, so it's a great thing. Just look at Ginnifer Goodwin. Look at her mind and the way it works. It's like, how could you not [fall in love]?" The Manifest star tied the knot with Goodwin in 2014, and they welcomed Oliver later that year. Hugo arrived two years later. Goodwin told Us exclusively in 2018 that she and Dallas didn't have any plans to expand their family further. "For now, I think we're a foursome," she said. "We're at a good place."
