Last year's sponsor was Louis Vuitton, and the gala raised $26 million for the museum. That isn't to say that fashion houses are always the sponsor - Amazon sponsored the gala in 2012, with Bezos acting as an honorary chair that year. Speaking to CNN, she said, "I think Lauren is going to be a wonderful asset to the museum and the event." CNN "We're very grateful for her incredible generosity.
