The Miss Universe pageantry drama this year seems to be the most intense we've seen in a while - and all of it is OFF the stage! As we previously reported, a bunch of Miss Universe contestants banded together and walked out after a director trashed Miss Mexico in front of everyone. It was terrible, but seemed to be only the start of a wild pageant season. Right before the competition aired on Friday, the Miss Universe Organization lost a few more people in their crew. Musician Omar Harfouch ducked out of his place on the judges' panel after alleging some unfair voting was going on behind the scenes. Then, on the same day, pro soccer player Claude Makélélé quit his role as a judge, too! President of the selection committee, Princess Camilla di Borbone delle Due Sicilie, also quit just days before the pageant. Damn! Related: Pageant Mystery! Miss Universe Contestant Suddenly Stripped Of Her Title But then, the pageant came around. A little justice seemed to be served when Miss Mexico AKA Fátima Bosch ended up winning the Miss Universe crown this year, but some people called it rigged... Either way, this is not where the drama and resignations stopped - by a long shot. After the 2025 Miss Universe pageant came to a close, Brigitta Schaback gave up her title as Miss Estonia, citing that her "values and work ethics do not align with those of the National Director, Natalie Korneitsik": "My commitment is to women's empowerment and equality, and I will continue this work independently, without any further association with Miss Universe Estonia." The National Director never specified what comments, nor gave a real reason to what was happening... It just seemed like Miss Estonia quit fast and is very DONE with Miss Universe. And if that wasn't enough for you, Miss Africa and Oceania of 2025 Olivia Yacé - who was the number four runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant - has denounced the organization and given up her crown! In a lengthy statement posted to her Instagram, she explained her commitment to "being a role model" for young women led to her decision to resign: "Stepping away from this diminished role of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania will allow me to dedicate myself fully to defending the values I hold dear. I call upon Black, African, Caribbean, American, and Afro-descendant communities: continue entering spaces where you are not expected. Let us open the way for the brothers and sisters who will follow us. Never let anyone define who we are or limit our potential. Our presence matters, and our voices must be heard." And it's not painting the already-controversial 2025 Miss Universe Org in a very good light. Like really, what the f**k going on behind the scenes?! With so many people suddenly quitting and Queens standing their ground like this, it seems like Miss Universe is in a new era! An era where none of these women are going to stand for being treated any less than they deserve - and we LOVE that. Pageantry is a very tough world to begin with.
