Stana Katic's long-forgotten crime thriller series Absentia became an unexpected streaming hit four years after its cancellation. The former Castle star headlined three seasons of the Prime Video series as FBI special agent Emily Byrne, whose mysterious disappearance during a murder investigation rocked the bureau to its core. When Agent Byrne was miraculously rescued with no memory of her six years in captivity, she was forced to grapple with changing family dynamics and a new string of brutal crimes. Katic - who executive produced Absentia in addition to starring in the show - confirmed in May 2021 that there would be no season four because "three seasons was the perfect amount of space for a beautiful, complicated and wonderfully fulfilling journey." More than four years later, all three seasons of Absentia made the jump from Prime Video to Netflix, where the series cracked the the top 10 viewership chart at its new streaming home.
