Next weekend on Netflix is going to be all about Stranger Things season 5. Fortunately, the penultimate weekend of November has a lot of great shows as well. Netflix is currently enjoying another strong week with the return of an original series and a borrowed show that's delivering blockbuster results. Both of those series made their way onto Watch With Us' list of the three underrated Netflix shows I can't wait to watch this weekend. The last show is a Japanese Netflix original that's carving up the competition. 'Last Samurai Standing' (2025) Last Samurai Standing is a new Japanese series on Netflix, but don't expect this to be the streamer's answer to Shōgun. This show is more action-oriented, and it takes place in late 19th-century Japan. Nearly 300 fighters have been invited to take part in a challenge to defeat as many of each other as possible as they make their way to Tokyo. 6 New Shows to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, HBO Max and More (November 21-23) Ex-samurai Shujiro Saga (Junichi Okada) feels that he has no choice but to enter the contest. His daughter has already died, and the prize might be enough to save his ailing wife. Along the way, his fellow contestants, Futaba Katsuki (Yumia Fujisaki) and Kyojin Tsuge (Masahiro Higashide), ally with Shujiro to discover the intentions of the wealthy benefactors who staged the event. Last Samurai Standing is streaming on Netflix. 'A Man on the Inside' (2024 - Present) A Man on the Inside is kind of like Netflix's answer to Only Murders in the Building, minus all of the murders. The stakes on this sitcom aren't life and death, but Ted Danson is having a great time playing Charles Nieuwendyk, a retired engineer who loves working as a private investigator for Julie Kovalenko (Lilah Richcreek Estrada). Season 1 wrapped up Charles' initial investigation at Pacific View Retirement Community, and season 2 finds him going undercover as a professor at Wheeler College. Someone has stolen a $400 million laptop from Wheeler College President Jack Berenger (Max Greenfield), and Charles can't resist bringing in some of his friends from Pacific View to help him solve the case. Danson's real-life wife, Mary Steenburgen, is joining the cast this season as Mona, an instructor at the college. Mona may also be a suspect in the case, but Charles is so romantically drawn to her that he's losing his objectivity. A Man on the Inside is streaming on Netflix. 'Absentia' (2017 - 2020) The difference between Netflix and its streaming rivals is sometimes amplified when a show from another streamer finds middling success on its own platform before becoming a monster hit on Netflix. Case in point, Absentia, a Prime Video original that has been nearing the top of Netflix's TV chart since it arrived earlier this month. Prime Video's Forgotten Show Is Now Netflix's New November Streaming Hit Castle's Stana Katic headlines the series as FBI Special Agent Emily Byrne, a woman who was missing and presumed dead at the hands of a serial killer. Emily's husband, Special Agent Nick Durand (Patrick Heusinger), was devastated by her apparent murder, but he eventually moved on with his life and married Alice Durand (Cara Theobold). Six years later, Emily has been found with no memory of where she's been or how she got there. Her return turns Nick's world upside down, and it's even worse for Emily herself. Her abductor has framed her for murder, and now Emily's closest friends are hunting her down as if she's a killer. Absentia is streaming on Netflix.
