[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content] This is truly one of the worst things you will ever read... A pair of California parents have been found guilty of murdering and decapitating two of their children and then forcing the kids' younger siblings to look at the headless corpses. This month, Maurice Jewel Taylor Sr. (pictured above right, in a court appearance) and Natalie Sumiko Brothwell (pictured above left, in a prior mugshot) were found guilty of murdering their 13-year-old daughter Maliaka and their 12-year-old son Maurice Jr. in the family's home in the southern California city of Lancaster back in 2020. Related: Trump Offers JAW-DROPPING Defense Of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Over Journalist's Murder According to cops via KTLA and other media outlets, the November 2020 tragedy occurred when the adults first stabbed the two children and decapitated them. Then, to make matters worse, the48-year-old mom and the 39-year-old dad reportedly forced their 9- and 8-year-old sons to look at the headless corpses. Seriously. WTF?!?! Then, per the Los Angeles Times and others, the two younger sons were locked in their bedrooms without food or water for several days after that. In the end, it took a few days for the couple's crimes to be uncovered. The bodies - and the surviving brothers - were only found in early December after firefighters were called out to the house regarding what people thought was a gas leak. Neighbors and other community members had called into first responders about an unsettling smell coming from the house, firefighters showed up, and, well... yeah... LA District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman has since called the tragedy "a monstrous act of cruelty that shattered an entire family." He said: "Two innocent children were brutally murdered, and their young brothers were left to live through unimaginable horror." The mayor of the city of Lancaster, Rex Parris, has said the tragedy was exacerbated by the effects of the COVID pandemic on the world in 2020. He said the worsening economy and long-term lockdowns of schools and other public places created a stressful environment in the home that could have tipped things WAY beyond a boiling point. Which, okay, sure. But it's a hell of a jump to go from COVID stress to that... Related: She Texted Friend 'If You Don't Hear from Me In 30 Minutes, He Killed Me,' And Then... Regardless, like we mentioned up top, Maurice Sr. and Natalie were found guilty earlier this month on two felony counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances, as well as two felony counts of child abuse. They will be sentenced for the crimes on January 13 of next year, where they could face life in prison. Here is more on the story, via a prior court appearance from Maurice Sr., below: Just awful.
