Well, now we know the full story behind why Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King is in hot water with CPS. According to new reports coming out on Friday morning, insiders say the embattled mother of three at least temporarily lost custody of her kids after allegedly giving one of her sons Ritalin - a medication he was apparently not prescribed - and then reportedly asking his school nurse to administer it as well. Whoa. Related: Post Malone Settles Custody Battle - Details HERE Early Friday, People cited a source who reported the situation began when Meghan allegedly gave the medication to one of her sons multiple times. Of course, the Bravo alum shares 8-year-old daughter Aspen and 7-year-old twins Hart and Hayes with her ex, former MLB star Jim Edmonds. Page Six reports the child in question is apparently Hayes. That outlet claimed Meghan has given the boy Ritalin multiple times even though he has evidently not been prescribed the medication or diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which that medication is used to combat. According to the People source, things crossed into crisis mode when the school became involved. That insider claims Meghan asked the school nurse to give the child the unprescribed medication, which prompted the school to contact Child Protective Services. The source told the mag: "She tried to get the nurse to do it and then somebody from the school called CPS and they opened an investigation." That report initiated the children's guardian ad litem - who's basically a court-appointed advocate responsible for representing the kid's best interests - to file for a temporary restraining order against Meghan. As far as when this happened, another source told People that the custody change came in late October, right around Halloween. In the aftermath, Meghan's ex-husband Jim, who has remarried Kortnie O'Connor Edmonds (pictured above, inset, with Jim), was awarded temporary sole physical custody while the court works toward determining whether this arrangement will become permanent. Meghan was granted supervised visitation with Aspen, Hart, and Hayes. Page Six reports the visits happen twice a week. Related: OMG Two Real Housewives SLEPT TOGETHER! That's Why Their Friendship Fell Apart! Per that same outlet, and in line with what we've previously reported, a hearing is apparently set for December 9. There, a judge will review the investigation's findings and determine a more permanent course of action. Meanwhile, Meghan isn't entirely alone as she faces this ordeal. As we also noted earlier this week, former RHOC co-star Kelly Dodd spoke publicly after talking with King, describing her as an excellent mother and someone who deeply loves her children and laying out the situation from her POV. Dodd had shared brief reasoning for the call, but now it seems to be confirmed. From here, we'll all stay tuned for whatever comes next.
