Watch: Jessica Simpson Details Struggle With Alcohol on 8-Year Sobriety AnniversaryJaimie Alexander is sharing her perspective. The Blindspot alum recently reflected on her past struggles with alcohol, sharing she had to be rushed into emergency surgery after her appendix ruptured and led to sepsis in 2018. After the procedure, Jaimie made the decision to live a sober life. "When I woke from surgery, I felt cold-and happy," the 41-year-old wrote in a Substack post published on Nov. 16. "It felt as though the infection had been completely removed from my body." "The doctors told me it was going to be touch-and-go, and that I could be in the hospital for weeks or even months," she added. "But I knew I'd be out in just a few days." As Jaimie noted, a boyfriend-who had been sober-asked her if she wanted to attend a 12-step meeting with him. "I do believe something is keeping me here," she said. "Something gave me a second chance. I don't know what it is that I have left to do, but I'm willing and ready to find out. Come what may."Indeed, Jaimie offered a bit of optimism for anyone who is also dealing with addiction, as she doesn't want people to go through their journeys alone. "If you're in a rough place in your life-whether it be in the throes of addiction, a difficult situation, financial turmoil, heartbreak," Jaimie wrote. "Or simply overwhelmed by the current state of the world-I implore you to dig deep within yourself, because that is where you will find the courage you were born with. We all have it.
