"People find it curious that Meghan seems to be professionally wooing Jeff Bezos, but, to be brutally frank, who can blame her?" a source told the Mail on Sunday of the Duchess of Sussex getting friendly with the company's founder. "He has all the money in the world and is one of the few people who can afford to bankroll any future projects of hers." _ "[Meghan Markle] is a smart businesswoman and very much in control of her career and where she sees it going," the source continued. "Of course, people are talking about her connection to Jeff Bezos and the fact she's chosen to star in an Amazon film, but there are very few big players in town and she has two of them, Netflix and Amazon. She's a canny businesswoman. Underestimate her at your peril." _ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry signed their first five-year deal with Netflix in 2020 for a reported $100 million. In 2025, the couple renewed with the streamer, signing a first-look deal at a much lower price. _ Meghan Markle is set to appear in the Amazon Prime film alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson and Jack Quaid. "Everyone in Hollywood is talking about Meghan making her return to acting in an Amazon film rather than a Netflix project," another source told the Mail on Sunday. "It's a bit like when Meghan and [Prince] Harry sat down with Oprah Winfrey to give their first big interview post Megxit. People all over town are wondering why they didn't come to Netflix. Of course, Netflix will never say anything remotely critical about them publicly. But let's just say ... this has been noted." _ Jeff Bezos might be the perfect person for Meghan Markle to align with. "I've been told by those close to Meghan that she wants to become a billionaire," royal expert Emily Andrews claimed in the Channel 5 documentary The Meghan Effect: How She Shook Up the Royal Family. "To become a billionaire, she has to build her brand to be as big and successful as it possibly can."
