Kelsey Grammer is a father to eight children - and he's had his fair share of ups and downs with many of them. The Frasier actor first became a father in 1983, after welcoming daughter Spencer Grammer with ex-wife Doreen Alderman. Kelsey also shares daughter Greer Grammer with ex-girlfriend Barrie Buckner. During his marriage to Camille Grammer, the pair welcomed daughter Mason and son Jude before their 2010 split. The following year, Kelsey moved on with current wife Kayte Walsh. The couple share four children: daughter Faith, sons Kelsey Gabriel, Auden James Ellis and Christopher. In May 2025, Kelsey candidly shared that he knew he wasn't a present father for his older children, but that he was trying to make it right. "I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two," he said in an interview with People at the time. "I'm trying to make up for a little of it now. I'm still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up." "Growing up and watching my father work has impacted me and taught me the kind of work ethic that he has, and some of the comedic timing as well," Spencer said in a November 2022 interview with The List. "I think also, comedians are born out of a lot of tumultuous life experiences because if you didn't laugh at it, you'd cry. So some of that comedic timing comes from that, from some of my own personal experiences as I've grown up. But a lot of his influence on my work [is] about being in the moment; our moment-to-moment work was great. Truly, he has always been an inspiration and influence on me." In 2022, Spencer starred alongside Kelsey in the Lifetime holiday movie The 12 Days of Christmas Eve. "I had an incredible time working with him. I have grown up watching him work. I used to come to set, used to watch the Frasier tapings when I was 16, 17, 18 because I always was interested in acting or directing," she told the outlet. "It was a joy to actually be able to act with him. I've always wanted to. I always thought we would do some Shakespeare play together, but to do a holiday Christmas movie was actually incredibly fun, and we had a great time." "I remember going to Frasier at one point and being 3, probably, and wondering why the girls in the back kept redoing the scene, but I didn't know what that meant," she reflected. "Then I think my mom took me out because I was loud. I think I went backstage." After Kelsey and Buckner split at around the time Greer was 4, Kelsey was absent from his daughter's life. Greer grew up in the same area where her dad and his new family with Camille resided. When she was 16, she ran into her father for the first time in over a decade at a Christmas tree lot where she was volunteering. "Towards the end of my day, I was getting ready to kind of leave, [and] I looked to see someone come in, and it was like him, Camille, his wife at the time, and my little sister Mason, who was like 6, 7, something like that," Greer recalled. "And they walked in, and you could collectively feel like, maybe it was, like, it was just me, but I felt like I felt everybody's breath just go [mimes breath being sucked in]." Greer didn't want to approach her dad and make things awkward for him and his family. However, Kelsey went up to her and the duo exchanged numbers. "That's kind of what started our relationship," she said. "It took a couple of days to call him, because my mom was like, 'Give them some time.' I was ready to call him that day, like, 'Let's do this thing. I got a dad now, woohoo!' She was kind of like, 'Take some time to think about it over the weekend. Let them process it as a family and then call.'" Greer shared that she and her dad "have a good relationship now." I had to grow up faster because I had a lot more responsibilities. My dad wasn't around, so I didn't see him much," Mason told Genlux in 2018, per Page Six. "And my mom had such a hard time. I became my younger brother's mom. Everyone was on edge. My parents still don't talk. At all. Ever."
