Margaret Colin recently caught up with her former Gossip Girl costar Blake Lively, 13 years after the beloved teen drama went off the air. "I ran into Blake on the street, which was hysterical because she's such a big star now. It was a big bear hug on the streets of New York, and she was just having lunch in a cafe," Colin, 67, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her Hallmark film Three Wisest Men, which premiered Saturday, November 15. "That was really wild. That was a couple of months ago after I came back from shooting in Vancouver," she explained. "What are the odds?" Calling their random run-in "good," Colin also shared a brief update on Lively, 38. 'Gossip Girl' Cast: Where Are They Now? "She's a happy mom, and she's doing really good," she told Us. Lively famously played it-girl Serena van der Woodsen in the CW series that followed the scandalous lives of Manhattan's most elite teens and a mystery blogger set on exposing their lies. She shares four children - daughters James, 10, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6, and son Olin, 2 - with her husband, Ryan Reynolds. Colin starred as Eleanor Waldorf, the mom of Leighton Meester's Blair Waldorf. Speaking of Meester, 39, her TV mom is beyond proud of the actress' success, and even weighed in on her high-profile marriage to Adam Brody. Margaret Colin, Blake Lively. Meester even joined them in a season 2 episode as Abby, a former friend of Bell's Joanne. Reminiscing about the first time she met Brody, Colin shared, "I got to meet him one time after the show was over and she had her baby, so I was in their house. God help them - the one that burnt down." (Meester and Brody lost their Los Angeles home earlier this year in the Pacific Palisades wildfires). "I spent an afternoon meeting her baby and meeting her husband years ago when there was just the one [kid]," Colin continued, referring to the couple's first child, daughter Arlo, 10. (In October 2020, they welcomed a son.) Colin shared her thoughts about Meester and Brody having all eyes on them. Adam Brody Says He Loves 'Darling' Wife Leighton in Critics Choice Speech "I think it's spectacular," she told Us, adding she understands the hype surrounding The O.C. alum. "He's got a great, calm, sexy male energy, like he's going to take care of things in that show," Colin said of Brody's Nobody Wants This character, rabbi Noah Roklov, who falls in love with sex positive podcaster Joanne. Admitting she hasn't been able to binge the show, Colin gushed about her former TV daughter. "She looks great," the star noted of Meester. "I was really lucky that I got to work with her so much. She's a great gal." Lively has also been making headlines after suing her It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni. She accused him of sexual harassment and of orchestrating a smear campaign against her. 'Gossip Girl' Cast's Dating History: On Set Romances, Crossover Marriages Baldoni has denied all of the allegations and subsequently countersued Lively and Reynolds, 49, in January for alleged extortion and defamation. Lively and Reynolds also denied the allegations, and a judge dropped Baldoni's case in June.
