Princess Beatrice was really "lonely" after welcoming her second child prematurely earlier this year - and amid her father's ongoing controversy! In a candid episode of The Borne Podcast out on Monday in honor of World Prematurity Day, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson's daughter reflected on how "lonely" it was to welcome her daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose, a few weeks early in January. She expressed: "I think so often, especially as [moms], we spend our lives, you know, feeling we have to be perfect to do this. And sometimes, when you are faced with that moment of learning that your baby's going to come a bit early, it can be incredibly lonely." Beatrice is a new patron of the charity Borne, which "is on a mission to end premature birth," its website states. Beatrice hopes her work with the charity will "bring as many people that have had their own stories, to come and share," adding: "Then maybe we can learn from each other." She continued: "My favorite thing about being a [mom] is the fact that it's like a secret, you know, it almost feels like a secret club of sharing stories." But sometimes, the secrets of the club can be hard to navigate, which is why she's excited to be with an organization hoping to be a support system for those who need it: "And I love the fact that Borne is there to support them [mothers] when they're going through something incredibly traumatic, and how can we make sure that phenomenal data, great tools, great doctors, have everything at their disposal so that no [mom] can feel alone." Back in March, in an essay for British Vogue, Beatrice recalled being in "sheer worry" amid the premature birth, noting: "It took more than a few weeks for the tears of relief to dry and for life with our healthy baby to feel real." Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi also share 4-year-old daughter Sienna Elizabeth. Edoardo is dad to 9-year-old Christopher Woolf from a previous relationship, too. Pregnancy can be so stressful - especially when dealing with challenges like this. And it doesn't help that during all of it and now, still in the aftermath of all this, she's been dealing with her father's massive Jeffrey Epstein scandal - which saw him get ousted from the royal family and have his titles removed just weeks ago! Stress on stress on stress! Beatrice's openness about this lonely period will hopefully help others feel less alone in the future, though! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know (below)!
