But to mark the occasion, her legacy is being revisited in Netflix's new documentary Selena y Los Dinos: A Family's Legacy. The level of public interest led to an unusually quick turnaround time for an autopsy: just three hours! At the time, coroner Lloyd White wrote in her death report, which was obtained by Us Weekly: "It is my opinion that Selena Quintanilla Pérez, a 23-year-old woman, came to her death as a result of an exsanguinating internal and external hemorrhage, in other words massive bleeding, due to a perforating gunshot wound of the thorax." Selena was shot in her lower right shoulder, and the bullet's path punctured her "chest wall" before exiting her body. Now in the new doc, the coroner speaks more on his assessment, revealing the bullet injured her "subclavian artery," which is "responsible for getting blood to your upper body," per the Cleveland Clinic.
