Greer Grammer-whom the Frasier star shares with ex Barrie Buckner-got candid about life with her father, explaining that while many people think she's a nepobaby, it's actually one of the major inaccuracies about her career. "The biggest misconception about me-and I never know how to talk about it except to just trauma dump-is that I didn't know my dad till I was 16," Greer shared on a recent episode of Pretty Basic podcast. "My dad left when I was 4, and then I didn't meet him again till I was 16." The 33-year-old did recall seeing him once at a Blockbuster when she was 11 years old, but felt she wasn't ready to talk to him then, saying, "I ran away." And I said, 'Yes, I am.' And then he went, 'I'm-.' And I was like, 'I know who you are. Duh,'" she recounted. "And then he gave me his phone number and we went to lunch the next week and that's what kind of started our relationship." As the Awkward alum remembered, all eyes were suddenly on her when Kelsey walked into the lot with his then-wife Camille Grammer and their daughter Mason, now 23-the two are also parents to son Jude, 20. "I just remember having a moment of being like, 'No, I'm OK to stay here. If anyone's gonna feel uncomfortable in this situation or feel like they need to leave, it's not gonna be me. I didn't do anything,'" she said. "I was a kid. If anyone's gonna feel shame in this situation or guilt or weird, it's not gonna be me." Greer recalled that her dad did seem nervous coming up to her, adding, "I think I hugged him and he asked questions." And while it wasn't until then that father-daughter relationship began to flourish, the Last Summer actress does have vague memories of her childhood with her father. "I remember going to Frasier at one point and being a baby-not a baby, but like, 3 probably," she shared, joking that she wasn't sure why the actors had to keep redoing their scenes. "Then I think my mom took me out of the audience because I was loud." She also had a memory of going to a party at her dad's house, as well as one of him coming to see her preschool play, The Wizard of Oz, adding, "He also remembers 'cause we've talked about it."Greer Grammer/Instagram"Of course, my therapist was like, 'Do you remember when you knew that your dad wasn't a part of your life anymore? Did your mom ever sit you down?'" Greer said. "And I was like, 'I don't think so.' She was like, 'You should ask her about that.' I was like, 'No. I don't want to. I think my brain's probably blocking it out for a reason. But thank you for bringing it.'" And while Greer and Kelsey are much closer now-with Greer even guest starring on the recent reboot of Frasier-Kelsey has admitted that he wasn't as present with his older children, including daughter Spencer, 41, whom he shares with Doreen Alderman. "I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two," the 70-year-old confessed to People in May. "I'm trying to make up for a little of it now." Kelsey-who also shares kids Faith, 12, Gabriel, 10, and James, 8 and newborn Christopher with wife Kayte Walsh-added, "I'm still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up."
